Hamimi offer a fresh take on Moroccan design, capturing the country’s exotic culture and honouring traditional craftsmanship. Hamimi is a boutique brother and sister brand, with Alex based in Brisbane and Rebecca on the ground in Marrakech, where she works with a team of local artisans that bring our designs to life.
Daily life in Marrakech provides an endless source of creative inspiration – it’s a place where you can have one foot in the very distant past and the other seemingly in the future. Their designs embrace the old and the new, combining traditional materials and techniques with a contemporary sensibility. They appreciate texture and are not afraid of using colour. They like to mix old and new, traditional and modern, to produce items of contemporary yet timeless appeal.
In this age of mass production, they instead focus on hand crafting our products in the traditional artisan way. Each product is invested with human touch – made by hand with heart.
Our crochet lights, jewellery and handbags are handmade by a small community of women in a village just outside Marrakech. By partnering with these women Hamimi aim to help keep their traditional skills alive and create a brighter future for them and their families.
Until next time...
